Oligonucleotide Synthesis and Purification (SYN1)
Who should attend?
Industrial and academic scientists interested in setting up an oligonucleotide synthesis and purification laboratory aimed towards the production of therapeutic or diagnostic oligonucleotides.
Basic knowledge of oligonucleotide synthesis is recommended, although an overview will be given during the workshop. This course is beneficial for both new and advanced users.
Course description The aim of this training is to introduce scientists to the field of chemical oligonucleotide synthesis, purification and general process design. It will cover historic aspects of oligonucleotide synthesis as well as an overview of current technology, covering both process and application of oligonucleotides. Scale-up from lab scale (mg amounts) into pilot-scale (gram amounts) for both synthesis and downstream processes will be covered. This 4-day workshop will introduce, train and update scientific personnel about the chemical solid phase synthesis of oligonucleotides, purification, development and general process design.
After the course, you will be able to:
Design and understand the entire production process on synthetic oligonucleotides (ODN), consisting of synthesis and deprotection of ODN, purification, desalting and final analysis by chromatography
Troubleshoot and optimize ODN related processes
Understand basic regulatory issues on therapeutic ODN
